Class Description: Go deep, open, and soothe yourself emotionally and mentally in this 90 Min yin yoga workshop with Carol Phillips.
Yin Yoga is the practice of floor postures that are held for 3-5 minutes at a time to stress and stimulate the deep connective tissues of the hips, thighs, pelvis, and lower spine. It is suitable for almost all levels of students. It is not to be confused with restorative yoga. Restorative yoga provides a completely supported environment for total relaxation. Yin yoga will challenge you and take you outside of your comfort zone. Benefits of a yin practice include improved joint mobility, increased flexibility, and a deepening of both your yang practice and mindfulness (meditation) practice.
In this workshop we will:
- Learn the difference between yin, yang and restorative yoga
- Explore the theory of yin yoga
- Gain a basic understanding of the Chinese meridian system (or energy pathways)
- Understand when to use and when to lose props in yin yoga
- Learn how to move towards your edge safely by understanding compression and tension

Instructor Bio: Carol Phillips is a RYS (Registered Yoga School) 200-hour yoga instructor. She has been teaching for almost 3 years, and practicing for many more. Carol teaches gentle, hatha, restorative, vinyasa, and yin yoga. She studied Yin Yoga as part of her 200-hour certification and has a special interest in Yin Yoga
Is yin yoga suitablke for all people?
Yin yoga is suitable for healthy people. This class is not recommended for anyone recovering from injuries or suffering from major low spine or joint issues, severe athritis, or women in their third trimester of pregnanacy If a participant is unsure they should consult their physician.
What should I bring to the class?
Please wear comfortable clothing and your own yoga mat if you have one. There are limited mats available at All and One.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No, please check in at the front desk when you arrive. If you have not paid the course fee prior to the class the fee will be collected when you check in.
