Mental Health: Depression

Our bodies are amazing at telling us when something is out of balance and needs to be restored. We come down with a cold when we’ve been working too hard, we get heartburn when we eat types and amounts of foods that don’t agree with our digestion, we feel a pit in our stomach when we go along with something we don’t really want to. Depression is no different.depression It, too, is a signal that something is out of balance and needs to be restored. We may be off kilter physically in our bodies, mentally with the thoughts we are choosing, emotionally with the feelings we experience, or spiritually with our relationships to ourselves, others and all that is. It may seem like a daunting task to identify where you are out of balance but the great news is that you are the best expert on yourself. The answers are within you.

Devote some time to listen to the message depression is bringing you; maybe take a moment of stillness in nature or grab a pen and journal it out. If you get stuck, seek assistance. Perhaps a group of like-minded peers have some advice, someone older and wiser who’s been there, or a trusted medical professional. Chinese medicine can help, too. Acupuncture facilitates subtle changes in the body/mind that can lead to profound results, helping you to regain balance and feel better.
