If you’re anything like me, the shortening days of the fall months can negatively impact my mood. I have found that there are a few things I can do to stay positive during this seasonal transition. I try my best to get outside and move my body despite the weather, keep social engagements with friends, and to keep to a regular meditation practice to reduce the effect of the negative stresses in my life.
In addition to these fundamental practices, I recently started keeping a gratitude journal. Every day I take a few minutes to jot down three different things I’m grateful for that day. I got the idea while watching the TED talk linked to below. It’s a hilarious and uplifting talk about happiness that I’m sure you like. Check it out! And if you’re struggling with the transition into fall for any reason, always remember that an acupuncture session or two at our NE Portland location can really help make that transition a little easier.
